Demo Versions of our Newly Produced Music Imagery Journeys (Autumn 2023)

Dear Leslie and Jojo

Here you have 3 different examples of our music imagery journeys:

– Shake it off and The Brook (recorded August and September 2023), which are two of our newly recorded music imagery materials made for our new music (imagery) app, The Sound of Life, intended for pregnant women at the maternity ward at Hvidovre Hospital (Denmark), who are offered an additional support due to drug abuse, mental illness, and/or are subject to domestic violence. Hence, the music and imagery aim at being simple, safe, and secure. the music comprises a combination of acoustic instruments (guitar, alto flute, cello, double bass, and trombone) + digital samples (e.g. piano, pads, strings).

At the Beach that I developed and composed for my child oncology study, The MICO project, which aims at reducing nausea and side effects of chemotherapy (see www.micostudy.com).
I recorded a series of compositions/music imagery journeys for the MICO project with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra back in 2014. Due to the focus on side effects the music and imagery elements are much more focused on provision of a free space as well as transforming the children's inner images, mood, and bodily sensations. These music imagery journeys also holds sequences of specific visualisering techniques e.g. "...let the light of the sun dissolve the nausea" etc. Finally, the version that I have uploaded is a test speak with Denise Grocke that we did some years ago.

A few additional word regarding our newest music imagery journeys:
Shake it off (composed and written by Catharina Messell) is intended for shaking off tensions, negative emotions, sensations etc. It is indeed bodily focused and and an example of our development of a concept of movement music imagery for our new music (imagery) app. The recorded guiding stems from the recording session and serves only as a cue speak to the musicians. In addition, the closing verbal part does not appear on this English demo version.

– The Brook (which I have composed and written) is intended for letting go of thoughts and worries.
It is a more classical example of music imagery, however short. Hence, we call it and our 4 other new pieces Short Music Imagery Journeys.

Please keep in mind that I am not finished with the mixing of the musical part of the two pieces.
Likewise, the speak is only a quick demo recording serving the purpose of letting you have the opportunity to hear the material and appraise, whether you find them suitable for the GIM conference.
In addition, we have only translated the demos into English quickly and roughly. Hence, we will make a more thorough translation later.

We hope you will enjoy them in spite of those reservations.

Best wishes ilan and Catharina
